Prepare yourself for an experience of a lifetime!!! Your eyes won’t believe what they are seeing; you will wonder … is it a magic? Hollywood special effects? Then you realize that these are truly enchanted water of Puerto Rico.

We offer and adventurous kayak tour at sunset that leads to the fascinating Laguna Grande in Fajardo! Under the blanket of the night sky and the historical lighthouse of Fajardo, you can touch the waters that glow with Bioluminescence Organisms.

There are only four (Bio bay) bioluminescent bays and one lagoon in existence on Earth! Very few people, even Puerto Ricans, are aware of our little known, bioluminescent lagoon. We will provides a unique opportunity to visit and actually kayak in the “Bio-Lagoon” known as “Laguna Grande”. This lagoon is the best place to appreciate this phenomenon, being a closed environment, allowing the microorganisms to flourish in bigger concentrations! This glowing effect can be appreciated at any given night.

We will explain all the processes involved and the unique conditions required for this supernatural phenomena to occur. Your Marine Biologist will also explain how this delicate ecosystem maintains a pure balance and what must be done to preserve and protect the Bio Bay “Laguna Grande”…a very special place on Planet Earth!

Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way. When crowded conditions warrant, we will provide extra guides for your safety.

Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary. Most important – the glow is always there! ENJOY THE SHOW!

Please Note: Weather conditions are monitored daily, for this reason, direct communication is a must. The raining it’s not a big deal to cancel the Tour. Printed copy of your voucher and valid ID must be presented at time of pick up to your driver if transportation is part of your package, otherwise upon arrival at said tour location same will be requested by your tour guide. Please do not forget your printed voucher as this is your proof of purchase.

Tour duration: 2:00 hours in water with 1 hour of waivers, safety orientation and pre-ride training (kayak 101).
5:30pm- 8:30pm (at tour location) and 7:30pm - 9:30pm (if available)

Transportation Included Approximated Pick Up Times from San Juan are as follows: • Old San Juan area – 3:00pm or • Condado area - 3:15pm /3:30pm • Isla Verde area - 3:45pm Note: Pick up for second departure are 2 hours later for each location.

Blackout Dates:
July 4, July 25, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Notice we close from Holy Thursday until the following Tuesday due to difficult access to the area such as, heavy traffic, extreme delays and parking areas limitations.

Requirements to Participate:
• No – children under six years old. • No children under 18 without adult supervision. • No- Alcohol or consumption of alcohol during said tour. • Combined weight not to exceed 500 pounds. • Activity is semi-athletic and is not suggested for people with fears of the dark. • This transportation is is only available to guests staying in San Juan Metro Area, Rio Grande Area and Fajardo Area Hotels.

Bio bay trip includes: All required safety equipment, specialized equipment (2 person kayak etc.), professional field guides, water & local seasonal fruits, bug repellent, kayak “Lesson 101” before the trip, safety orientation, and most of all…a lot of fun! Each Bio Bay tour is guided by a certified interpretive Marine Biologist trained in First Aid & CPR

Perfect clothing:
Beach wear, water shoes or sandals, repellent, towel. You will get very wet, we recommend bringing extra clothes for after the tour
